Hoffmann Architects Promotes Eric Au, Guilherme Pinho, and Kelsey Greenleaf
Hoffmann Architects, an architecture and engineering firm specializing in the rehabilitation of building exteriors, is pleased to announce that Eric Au, Guilherme Pinho, and Kelsey Greenleaf have earned promotions.
Eric Au, LEED Green Associate, with Hoffmann Architects’ New York office, has earned a promotion to Senior Project Coordinator. After joining the firm in 2017 as Project Representative, Au earned a promotion in 2019 to Senior Project Representative and, last year, to Project Coordinator. His experience includes restoration and replacement of facades, roofs, and windows; rehabilitation of historic landmark structures; and New York City Facade Inspection Safety Program investigations. He provides structural design and detailing, report preparation, and contract administration services for corporate, educational, government, healthcare, and hospitality projects in New York. Among his primary clients are Verizon, the New York City Department of Design and Construction, Central Park Conservancy, CBRE Group, The Durst Organization, Hines, LaGuardia Gateway Partners, and Columbia University.
Au earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate credential in 2017, and he is a registered Engineer in Training (EIT) and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Last year, he co-authored “Design Guide for Parapets: Safety, Continuity, and the Building Code” with Juan Kuriyama, AIA, for the Hoffmann Architects JOURNAL, and a version of the article is also forthcoming in Building Design+Construction magazine.
Outside the office, Au enjoys cooking, traveling, exercising, and biking, and he is an ardent Yankees and Giants fan. A team player, he helped bring the Hoffmann Architects volleyball team to victory for multiple seasons, and he is known in the office for his dependability, outstanding work ethic, and camaraderie.
Guilherme C. Pinho, part of Hoffmann Architects’ Connecticut staff, has been recognized with a promotion to Senior Project Coordinator. He joined Hoffmann Architects in 2019 as Project Coordinator and will celebrate his second anniversary with the firm in August. Pinho brings 12 years of experience in construction administration for small commercial, institutional, retail, residential, and interior design projects, as well as for civil engineering work. At Hoffmann Architects, he has gained experience in all phases of investigation, design, and construction, from developing drawings and specifications to providing contract administration and on-site project representation services. Pinho’s projects include facade assessment and rehabilitation, water infiltration investigation, building envelope restoration, roofing system design, and window rehabilitation for corporate, academic, government, and residential clients, including Osborn Correctional Center, Vassar College, The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, MasterCard Worldwide Headquarters, and Collins Aerospace Center in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
An honors scholar, Pinho earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering technology from the University of Hartford in Connecticut, and he completed the Master of Architecture degree program at Boston Architectural College in May. For the past two years, he has juggled working full-time while pursuing his master’s degree outside of work hours. He also earned an Architectural and Civil CADD Technology diploma from Porter and Chester Institute in Connecticut. As a member of Hoffmann Architects’ Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Pinho was instrumental in launching the Diversity & Inclusion Blog, and he has been an active advocate for diversity in the profession, as evidenced by his participation at a recent career event for minority high school students. He is fluent in Portuguese and conversant in Spanish.
For the past five years, Pinho’s main hobby outside work has been designing and constructing his own home. He tore down the existing structure, developed all the construction documents, and has been building the home with his own hands. His goal is to earn Passive House Plus certification and achieve a zero-carbon footprint during operation.
Kelsey R. Greenleaf, Assoc. AIA, with the firm’s Connecticut office, earned a promotion to Project Coordinator. After joining the firm in 2017 as Project Representative, she received a promotion in 2019 to Senior Project Representative. In her time with the firm, she has gained experience in contract administration and field investigation for corporate, educational, government, healthcare, cultural, and religious projects in Connecticut and New York. Her work includes masonry restoration, roof replacement, parking structure assessment, water infiltration investigation, and plaza rehabilitation for clients such as the New York State University Construction Fund, Columbia REIT, Lahey Clinic Hospital, Middlesex Hospital, Aetna, Eastern Connecticut State University, the State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation for Foxwoods Resort Casino. Greenleaf serves as the Connecticut office coordinator for continuing education seminars, and she took the initiative to coordinate all virtual continuing education for the entire firm during the pandemic. She also applies her experience as an accomplished amateur photographer to creating photo documentation of built projects for marketing and report materials.
As a member of Hoffmann Architects’ Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Greenleaf has championed initiatives that promote equity and belonging, while giving back to the community. A graduate of the ACE Mentor Program for high school students, she encouraged Hoffmann Architects to participate, and she has taken the lead on researching team-building and mentorship initiatives. She is also a member of the Hoffmann Architects’ Emerging Professionals Group.
Greenleaf earned a Bachelor of Science in architecture from Keene State College in New Hampshire. Active in the professional community, she is a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) Connecticut chapter and the AIA Connecticut Emerging Architects committee. She regularly attends chapter meetings of the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
In her free time, Greenleaf is a skilled and inventive cook and baker, making her own homemade breads, pastas, cheeses, and ice cream. For the past three years, she has served as a mentor to a thirteen-year-old girl through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America program. She also enjoys being in – and photographing – nature.
Eric Au, Guilherme Pinho, and Kelsey Greenleaf have made valuable contributions to the firm, and their experience and achievements have been an asset to Hoffmann Architects.
