Richard W. Off, AIA earned a promotion to Project Architect, recognizing his leadership and contributions to the firm. He joined Hoffmann Architects in 2016 as Project Representative and earned promotions to Senior Project Representative, Project Coordinator, Staff Architect, and, most recently, Senior Staff Architect. He provides investigation, design, and construction administration services for restoration and replacement of facades, roofs, and windows, as well as preservation and rehabilitation of historic landmark structures. Some of his notable contributions include restoration of the historic 1845 First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York, facade restoration and roof replacement for the turn-of-the-century Masonic Hall in New York City, and roof replacement peer review for 350 Hudson Street, an historic Art Deco office building in SoHo.
Off earned a Master of Arts degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Experienced in the restoration and rehabilitation of historic windows and roof assemblies, he presented on window conservation and code compliance at the 2019 Traditional Building Conference. His publication credits include the Hoffmann Architects JOURNAL article, “Roof Drainage Systems,” along with articles in Building Design+Construction and The Construction Specifier. Active in the professional community, he is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). He lives in Washington Heights, New York City.
