Reeja Shrestha

Architectural Intern

With an impeccable academic record and a passion for the preservation of historic structures and cultural heritage sites, Reeja was the first recipient of the Hoffmann Diversity Advancement Scholarship, in 2023. Established in partnership with the Connecticut Architecture Foundation, the Hoffmann Scholarship is the first CAF award program to offer a paid summer internship, in addition to a tuition scholarship. As part of her scholarship award, Reeja has accepted the opportunity for a ten-week summer internship at Hoffmann’s New York City office. She joins the Hoffmann team through August 9, 2024.

Reeja grew up in the historic capital of Nepal and came to the United States to study architecture. A third-year student pursuing a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture and design at Howard University, Reeja holds a perfect 4.0 GPA. She is a member of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) and Howard University American Institute of Architecture Students (HU-AIAS).

As an intern at Hoffmann’s busy Manhattan office, Reeja will gain experience in all aspects of building enclosure consultation, from code compliance inspections for facades, parapets, and garages to historic landmark preservation and construction administration for high-performance exteriors. In turn, she brings perspective from her experience and studies in Nepal and beyond to offer unique insight into culturally sensitive restoration design.

In her free time, Reeja enjoys drawing and painting portraits with acrylics. She has contributed to collaborative art exhibitions to build connection and foster cultural exchange among artists working in traditional and modern media.
